Halle's Homes are no cost, extended-stay, private apartments for cancer patients and their families.

Family Eligibility Requirements:
To qualify for a no-cost stay at one of Halle's Homes, families must meet the following criteria:
An immediate family member must be actively receiving oncology, hematology, or bone marrow transplant (BMT) treatment at a Columbus, Ohio-area cancer hospital or treatment center (adult or children's).
The family's primary residence must be located at least 90 miles (about 2 hours) from the treating hospital.
The patient must maintain a minimum of 3 in-person appointments and/or clinic visits within a 7-day period.
All adult (ages 18+) residing in the home must successfully pass a background check. (A $40 background check fee is the responsibility of the family.)
The family's current residence must be free of bed bugs and other pests.
Important Policies:
Please review the following policies with families before submitting a nomination:
Animal-Free Housing: Halle's Homes are pet-free. Service animals are welcome with appropriate documentation.
Smoke- and Drug-Free Environment: Smoking, vaping, and illegal drug use are prohibited on the property.
Length of Stay: Families are expected to secure alternative housing and vacate Halle's Homes within two weeks of the patient no longer requiring a minimum of three in-person appointments or clinic visits within a seven-day period.
Maximum Length of Stay: To ensure Halle's Homes remain available for as many families as possible, stays are generally limited to 12 months (1 year). Families are expected to transition to alternative housing prior to reaching the 12-month maximum stay unless an exception is approved by Share Your Story's Executive Leadership due to extraordinary circumstances.
We kindly ask social workers to review these eligibility requirements and policies with families prior to submitting a nomination to ensure they understand the expectations of the program.
